As you know, the most terrible loneliness is loneliness in a crowd. Each of us at least once in a lifetime experienced a similar feeling. Being a black sheep among a flock of black birds, showing your love to the world, and in return getting a spit in your soul - that’s what the song of rapper Oleg Savchenko, known under the pseudonym LSP.
1 verse
In the first couplet, the author and performer of the song introduces us to his hero - The Little Prince. The choice of this character is obvious, since we all know from childhood the tale of Antoine de Saint-Exupery about a dreamer boy who wants to fix the world for the better, but his dreams are shattered about the harsh reality.
In the song of Oleg LSP one can observe the same idealist and visionary - the Little Prince - that “he looked at the birds from the tower of a huge castle”. Of course, the main character of the song is a fairy-tale character, but in his image everyone is able to see himself.
Then the question arises: what does the castle symbolize? And if the Little Prince lives in any of us, then what is a castle for an ordinary person?
The castle as an ancient symbol has the meaning of inaccessibility, alienation, protection. He personifies the test of spirit. The castle in the song is its own prison, fetters that we seek to get rid of. The monumental building is almost always associated with imprisonment. A small balcony in an old apartment can turn into a “tower of a huge castle” if there is a cold and alien city below it.
The choice in favor of a fairy-tale character from outer space can be interpreted as something more specific and personal, namely as a reference to the life and death of another member of the LSP group, Roma Englishman. The real name of the producer and performer from Belarus is Roman Sashchenko. This talented person passed away at the age of 29 on July 30, 2017. Until now, no one knows the exact cause of Roman's death. But earlier the musician himself laughed that with such a passion for bad habits he had only a short time to walk on this earth. There are difficult days in the fate of any creative person, when critics are more than praise, and it seems that everything around is against you. Roman Sashchenko was no exception. Too frank songs, not the most righteous way of life - all this played against the producer from Minsk. Many did not think that this was just a mask. Only the closest people knew this real Roman. It is they who note how sincere and comprehensively developed was Roma the Englishman.
Birds, in turn, symbolize modern society, which does not need other people's problems, interests and aspirations. “The birds have too busy schedules” - and the easiest way to get rid of the egregious voice from the outside is to say “yep, nafig” Like a cry for help, the following lines sound:
Why do I need gold and pieces of paper;
Why do I need hands, why do I need legs
If I am alone, am I so alone? ..
However, for the “birds” all this is just an empty phrase.
2 verse
The plot of the second verse is even more tragic than the first. The author indicates that society kills a person in a person. The desire to be like everyone else is a way to get rid of loneliness. Our hero is special, but uniqueness did not bring him happiness, so the Little Prince "played a dangerous game." In the hope that the “birds” at least this time will notice the hero, truly appreciate his subtle nature, recognize himself in him, the hero decided on a desperate act: “ran away, that there is urine, flew down”. This “leap” symbolizes parting with the former life, its unique character. Will the faceless pack appreciate the Little Prince’s heroism?
Unfortunately, a miracle does not occur. Whatever we do, there will always be those who start to laugh, will be against us and the work for which we are worried with all our hearts. It is worth paying attention to the last lines of the second verse:
... And it will become clear in the morning,
That once gnawed a corpse
A flock of birds, a flock of black birds.
They say that society is merciless to those who are somehow a biblical leper, whom the flock does not accept. And the most cold-blooded survives among such people. A faceless pack lives according to instincts, the most important of which is survival. They do not look at either a good heart or the mind of a prince. Despair drove him with personality. But is it worth becoming like this flock? Or is it sometimes better to go against the system? Questions hung in the air ... Perhaps this is the only thing left after the Little Prince.
