Seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan (Bella), a closed, unlucky and awkward girl whose parents divorced a long time ago, temporarily moved to live with her father Charlie Swan, a sheriff of the town of Forks in the north of the United States, and went to study at a local school.

On the very first day of her studies, Bella noticed a group of five very beautiful high school students. The youngest was especially good - a tall, slender guy with a shock of bronze red hair named Edward.

These were the adopted children of the local doctor Carlisle Cullen.

At first, Edward eschewed Bella and looked at her with fierce hatred, then for a week he did not appear at school at all, but, having returned, he suddenly began to communicate with the girl.One day, in a wet school parking lot, a van of one of the high school students skidded, and Bella almost fell under the wheels. She was saved by Edward, who stopped the car with his hand. Bella began to realize that Edward was an unusual person.

Edward turns out to be a vampire

Soon, Bella and her classmates went for a walk in La Push, the reservation of the Quilete tribe. A local guy, a longtime acquaintance of Bella, told her that the qulettes consider themselves to be werewolves, descendants of wolves, and are at odds with “cold” vampires.

Cullens save Bella from a newcomer vampire hunter

In Phoenix, Bella asked Alice how they became vampires. It turned out that vampires have poisonous saliva. Once in the blood of a person, the poison paralyzes him, and then degeneration begins, accompanied by severe pain.

The hunter threw Bella at the mirror wall. At that moment, the Cullens appeared in the classroom, tore the hunter to pieces and burned them, but it turned out that he managed to bite the girl and the poison got into her blood. Edward began to drain the poison from the wound, and Bella passed out.

Bella decides to become a vampire

Bella spent a long time in the hospital due to injuries and a large loss of blood. Sucking poison from the wound, Edward barely managed to stop and nearly killed Bella. She regretted that he did not let the poison act and reverse it.
